Associate Principal, Interior Design

About the position AECOM's Architecture + Interiors studio in Boston is currently seeking an experienced Associate Principal of Interior Design to join our team. The successful candidate will work on local projects as well as projects in other locations across the country. Responsibilities • Lead and mentor a team of interior designers and architects, fostering creativity and all aspects of well-rounded professional growth • Develop and implement design strategies aligned with client objectives and project requirements • Oversee multiple large- and smaller-scale interior design projects from concept to completion, design through construction administration • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members to ensure project success and client satisfaction • Present design concepts and proposals to clients, incorporating feedback and revisions as needed • Ensure compliance with regional building codes, regulations, and sustainable design practices • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively • Stay current with industry trends and innovative design solutions to maintain a competitive edge • Contribute to business development efforts and cultivate client relationships Nice-to-haves • Master’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture • Minimum 15+ years of experience in interior design and architecture, with a proven track record of managing large-scale projects • Proficiency in interior design software, including Revit, Enscape, and SketchUp, and Adobe Suite applications and products from them • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, tracking labor costs to ensure profitability and quality of products • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written • Demonstrated leadership abilities, negotiation skills, dispute resolution skills and experience managing design teams • Commitment to sustainable design practices and their implementation • Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment • Strong portfolio showcasing diverse interior design projects
