CAD Designer

Job Summary Design elevator cab interiors and other elevator-related components to produce customer approval, shop fabrication, and field installation drawings using UEI selected software (currently AutoCAD and SketchUp Pro) in collaboration with Project Managers and other UEI personnel. Regional Offices: Seattle, Los Angeles Responsibilities • Create fabrication drawings including schematics, mechanical plans, details, and schedules per customer requests, UEI process and capabilities, and regulatory requirements • Create 3-D models and renderings, and sub-assembly drawings when needed • Produce DXF files for use with shop CNC equipment • Use designs to develop specifications of materials needed for a project • Follow established technical specifications to prepare shop drawings • Consult with internal Project Managers regarding model accuracy, design, and drafting standards • Apply engineering or architectural principles to an elevator interior design and their components or assemblies • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals • Aid customers and project managers in design choices and material selection when needed • Exercise a wide degree of creativity and latitude • Other duties or tasks as assigned Qualifications • 3+ 3-5 years of architectural or engineering CAD design experience, AutoCAD preferred • 1-2 years of 3D modeling and rendering, SketchUp Pro preferred • Familiar with elevator interior concepts, specifically in sheet metal fabrication and cabinet making • Strong ability to understand and communicate elements of fabrication • Perform a variety of complicated tasks with a high-level of attention to detail • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Proficient with standard office software, such as Outlook, Word, Excel • Associates or College degree or equivalent work experience • Excellent organization and time management skills • Positive and professional attitude • Customer service orientation At UEI we have a record of attracting people who are looking for something different.
