1. Overview & About HUXHUX Design Inc.HUXHUX Design Inc. is a boutique design firm specializing in high-end retail, workplace, corporate, and hospitality interiors. We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and highly motivated Commercial Designer with a keen eye for exceptional design to join our collaborative project team.

In this role, you will be deeply involved in all phases of architectural and interior services, working closely with the Principal and team members to execute spatial and environmental designs for an exciting roster of brands. There will be cross-disciplinary crossover into corporate design, as we work closely with many brands for whom we design both retail experiences and corporate spaces.

2. Position Details & CompensationSalary Range

$72,000 - $78,000 (Commensurate with experience)

3. Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management & Execution: Manage projects and produce high-quality work output across all phases of design (from SD to DD to CD) under the direction of the Principal. Maintain a high level of organization in documentation for both internal and client-facing purposes.Design & Documentation: Create design visualizations for client presentations, working drawings, construction details, millwork details, and technical specifications.Financial & Administrative Control: Oversee project budgets, produce purchase orders (POs) for interior purchases, and manage timelines effectively.Cross-Disciplinary Strategy: Engage in creative research and development for branding, graphic design, and strategic consulting with our clients.Collaboration & Coordination: Coordinate seamlessly with external architects, engineers, contractors, and NYC-based fabricators.

4. Requirements & QualificationsExperience & EducationExperience: Minimum of 4 years of related experience in the design of commercial projects (retail, corporate, or hospitality interiors). A solid portfolio of actualized retail projects or internal brand environmental design experience is required.Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design.Certification Path: Active pursuit of NCIDQ, AIA, or LEED certifications is highly preferred and fully supported by the firm.

Technical & Design SkillsSoftware Proficiency: Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and Google Business Suite programs.Drafting & Modeling: Proven ability to confidently execute complete drawing sets and construction documents. Excellent 3D modeling and rendering skills are a must.Domain Expertise: Vast knowledge of and affinity for materials, products, and product resources for interior applications. Experience and familiarity with visual merchandising, fixture design, capacity studies, and interactive features are essential.Core Values: A strong interest and commitment to Inclusive Retail Design.
