Coordinator, Interior Design, 10-month

Provide program leadership, supervision, and daily administration of the Interior Design degree and certificate programs. Applicant must hold a professional degree from an accredited Interior Design program (BS; BA; BFA; MFA; MS), Professional licensure/certification (NCIDQ) or ability to attain professional certification within three years of employment, demonstrated ability to work with colleagues in a collaborative environment, demonstrated ability to work with and relate to a diverse student population, prior teaching in an Interior Design academic program and prior professional experience in the Interior Design industry. Class Specific Essential Duties Personnel Management • Evaluate faculty and communicate the results to the chairperson • Coordinate the recruitment of adjunct faculty • Assign teaching loads • Coordinate the preparation of contracts • Encourage and coordinate the participation of faculty in discipline, department, school, campus, and college academic and non-academic activities • Lead the orientation of new faculty as to the functions, activities, resources, policies, and procedures of the department and school Program Administration • Coordinate the evaluation of courses and curricula within the discipline • Coordinate a periodic review of books and other instructional materials used in the discipline • Communicate with faculty members regarding student progress and obstacles to student learning (including the review of placement for developmental courses and courses with prerequisites) • Promote the goals and reputation of the discipline • Assist in the preparation of class schedules • Keep department chair and school dean aware of all significant developments with or relating to the discipline • Serve as a source of information for students, community, counselors, advisors, administrators, and other faculty members concerning discipline policies and course content • Approve requisitions for textbooks and other instructional materials • Represent the discipline in meetings as needed • Represent the department chair in meetings as requested • Perform other duties as assigned by the chair
