Seeking a highly-motivated, driven, organized, and detail-oriented person to join our award-winning design firm as a Design Assistant. It would be a good fit for recent graduates or someone with significant administrative experience and an interest in design. This position will work under the direction of and assist all members of the A+R team: the Principal Designer, the Interior Designers/Project Managers, the Office Manager, and the Financial Administrator. Responsibilities: • Organize and maintain samples for various vendors • Communicate with vendor reps and schedule presentations (such as Lunch + Learns) • Pick up and/or return samples to various showrooms • Order and label memo samples of fabrics, paints, wallcovering • Create and maintain client bins with samples and selections for their projects • Create and maintain client folders on Google Drive by uploading relevant documentation and selections • Prepare selection schedules for Designers • Assist Designers with the creation and editing of client photo pages • Check pricing and stock availability for Designer's selections • Request quotes from various vendors and workrooms • Input pricing into Studio Designer to prepare proposals and reports for Designer review • Check Designers’ work and ensure accurate pricing and product descriptions on proposals • Create + review purchase orders for accuracy before submitting to vendor • Receive order acknowledgements and verify their accuracy before payment • Track orders + run open order reports for Designer review • Set up before meetings and tear down after meetings • Occasionally sit in on client meetings and take notes • Format meeting notes for Designer's review, add any action items to the shared Action Items list for review in weekly staff meeting • Assist Office Manager with coordinating + preparing for installs • Accompany and assist Designers with client deliveries, site visits, and installs, which may include heavy lifting, assembling items such as lighting fixtures, making beds, organizing, cleaning, etc • Assist Designers with inventory of placed items that are to be proposed • Work with Office Manager to order + maintain inventory • Assist with answering phones, distributing mail, ordering supplies + other basic office duties when necessary • Record all billable time, tracked in 15-minute increments daily, for client invoices Ability to Commute: • Asheville, NC (Required)
