Truss Design Manager JOB I.D.#75611 Description: Responsibilities: Design roof and floor trusses using specialized truss design software (e.g., MiTek, Alpine, ITW Building Components).Interpret architectural blueprints, structural drawings, and project specifications to determine truss requirements.Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes (e.g., IBC, IRC), industry standards (e.g., WTCA), and company policies.Optimize truss designs for material efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and ease of fabrication and installation.Generate accurate cut lists, layout drawings, and other production-related documentation for the manufacturing team.Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, production, and project management teams to ensure design integrity and project success.Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to clarify design requirements and address any issues.Perform calculations to verify design integrity and load-bearing capacity.Review and revise designs based on feedback from engineers, fabricators, or clients.Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, design software advancements, and building code changes.Troubleshoot design-related issues during fabrication and installation.Maintain accurate records of all designs and project documentation.Supervise in-house design team (3) and oversee offsite designers’ (3) work as well. Associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.Proven experience (typically 2+ years) as a truss designer or similar role in the building materials or construction industry.Proficiency in truss design software (e.g., MiTek Sapphire, Alpine View, ITW Building Components).Strong understanding of structural mechanics, engineering principles, and load paths.In-depth knowledge of residential and commercial building codes, particularly as they relate to structural framing and trusses.Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and structural drawings.Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software is a plus.Experience with wood product specifications is highly desirable.Physical Requirements:
