## Join Our Team as a Designer at Floor & Decor

We are looking for a creative and customer-focused Designer to join our West Hartford, CT store. As a Designer, you’ll provide a seamless start-to-finish consultative design service that builds lasting relationships and brand loyalty with the customers we serve.

### What You’ll Do

You’ll meet with customers, listen to their project needs, and educate them on everything required for their project. Then you’ll build a creative design concept that incorporates their personal style, lifestyle, and budget. This includes greeting store customers in a helpful manner and supporting store design walk-in needs, scheduling design appointments for existing and potential customers, and developing clientele through networking, referrals, and leads generated within the store.

You’ll provide tile, wood, stone, and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for both residential and commercial projects. Designing and selling complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions is at the heart of this role. You’ll manage multiple, simultaneous customer projects through all phases with a high level of accuracy, timeliness, and follow-up, including consistent and concise communication to customers and others. Proficient and consistent use of company communication tools and emails is required.

Collaboration is key—you’ll partner and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation, and achieve sales and other goals. You’ll enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees, and engage in current and emerging design trends in your market. You’ll also be responsible for understanding and utilizing design applications such as Salesforce, our proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and My. Project. Other duties as assigned.

### What We’re Looking For

- Minimum of 1 year of interior design experience or prior retail/sales experience is required.

- A degree in Design is a plus.

- Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus.

- Proficient in basic mathematical skills.

- Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite.

- Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position.

### Working Conditions

Limited travel may be required by car. While performing the duties of this job, you will frequently be exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy. Physical demands include the ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. You’ll often use your hands and fingers to handle or feel, and occasionally stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The pay range starts at $18/hr or more based on experience. We offer bonus opportunities and career advancement opportunities at every level.
