Designer - Multi-Family Housing

About the RoleLRS Architects is seeking a Designer to join its Multi-Family Housing Studio in Portland, Oregon. Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to the design and documentation of multifamily housing work from early planning through construction.Work with project teams to shape practical, creative design solutions that meet client objectives, budget limits, scheduling needs, and quality expectations.Create BIM models, drawings, renderings, details, schedules, and presentation materials.Help with site analysis, code research, building planning, unit layouts, amenity areas, and design studies.Coordinate assigned work with architecture, interiors, engineering consultants, and other team members.Follow firm standards, BIM procedures, quality assurance practices, and project guidelines.Take part in programming, design development, construction documentation, construction administration, and project closeout.Track assigned tasks and deadlines while keeping work accurate and detail-oriented.Continue building technical and design capabilities through mentorship and hands-on project experience.RequirementsA professional architecture degree, either B.Arch or M.Arch.Roughly 0 to 3 years of architectural experience.Working knowledge of Revit and other standard design tools used in the industry.Strong communication skills, both visual and verbal/written.Ability to juggle several assignments and contribute effectively in a team setting.Interest, initiative, and curiosity toward meaningful housing-focused work.Preferred ExperienceBackground in multifamily housing, mixed-use, affordable housing, student housing, senior living, or similar residential projects.Understanding of residential planning, building codes, accessibility requirements, and housing design principles.Experience producing construction documents and other design deliverables.Ability to interpret and develop technical drawings and specifications.Knowledge of building systems, materials, detailing, and constructability.Experience coordinating with consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.Strong capabilities in design, visualization, and problem-solving.Commitment to thoughtful, sustainable, community-centered housing.BenefitsHybrid work flexibility with both remote and in-office options.Competitive pay with annual reviews and opportunities for advancement.Medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits.401(k) plan with employer match.Generous paid time off and more than 7 paid holidays each year.Support for licensure, certification, and continuing education.A collaborative and inclusive culture that values mentorship, balance, and equity.Opportunity to work at a majority women-owned firm that is JUST-labeled and recognized as a Top Workplace.Why Join LRSLRS Architects describes itself as a team of problem solvers and creative thinkers that puts people first in the design process.
