About Us MCM is best characterized as an urban niche developer, known for successfully completing complex projects in older cities and under-served urban neighborhoods. We have a deep understanding and extensive experience working with the Federal Historic Tax Credit (HTC) program and the many different State Historic Tax Credit programs are shared with the client to facilitate the development and adaptive reuse of under-utilized, abandoned, and deteriorating structures. Collaborate with the Director of Design & Construction on assigned projects, from feasibility and concept design through construction documentsReview and critique deliverables from external architects, engineers, and consultants for design quality, code compliance, and constructabilityEnsure designs align with the company's brand standards, unit mix, and financial targetsProvide in-house architectural expertise on zoning, building codes, accessibility (ADA), and life-safety requirementsIdentify design-driven cost or schedule risks early and propose solutionsAssist in the selection of outside design and engineering teams including reviewing contracts and providing feedback and recommendationsTrack and report project status, risks, and key decisions to senior leadership Coordinate with internal acquisitions, construction, and finance teams to keep projects aligned with overall business objectives Coordinate the entitlement and permitting process, including submissions to planning and building departmentsAttend public hearings, design review boards, and community meetings as neededMaintain relationships with municipal agencies, plan reviewers, and inspectorsProvide design guidance during construction, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittalsConduct site visits to confirm work aligns with design intent and quality standardsSupport value-engineering discussions while protecting core design and functional requirementsQualifications Bachelor's or degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Historic Preservation, or a related field3-5 years of experience in Architecture with exposure to design and project management responsibilitiesStrong working knowledge of building codes, zoning ordinances, and entitlement processesProficiency in design and documentation software (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite)Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate design concepts for non-technical stakeholdersPreferred
