Role Description The Director of Interior Design is a full-time, on-site role based in Richardson, TX, responsible for leading the interior design practice and guiding project teams from concept through completion. This role oversees the development of interior design concepts, space planning, finish and furniture selection, and integration of interiors with architectural design, particularly for religious and campus projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing design workflows, reviewing construction drawings and specifications, coordinating with architects, consultants, and contractors, and ensuring that design solutions meet client objectives, budget, and schedule. The Director will lead client presentations, facilitate design decisions, mentor interior design staff, and establish standards and best practices for interiors across the firm. The role also involves collaborating on strategic planning, supporting business development efforts, and maintaining high levels of design quality and client service.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Interior Design and Design Management skills, with experience leading complex, multi-phase projects.Candidates should possess Architecture and Architectural Design skills to ensure cohesive integration of interiors with building design.Candidates should possess proficiency in Construction Drawings and related documentation, including coordination with consultants and contractors.Candidates should possess leadership and team management capabilities, including mentoring, resource planning, and performance oversight.Candidates should possess strong client-facing skills, including communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship building.Candidates should possess proficiency with relevant design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite) and familiarity with building codes and ADA requirements.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field; professional licensure or certification (e.g., NCIDQ, registered interior designer, or architect) is preferred.Experience with religious facility design, campus planning, or similar institutional work, and a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, is highly beneficial.
