Summary Interior Designer serves as the Interior Designer in the office of the Chief - Facilities Management Service. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Major duties include but are not limited to: Performs technical - administrative and/or professional work involved in managing - administering - operating or supporting services and programs related to the operation and safety of VA facilities Creates and designs interior environments in order to promote employee productivity - health and welfare - and/or health and welfare of the public Interior Designer is interior design program manager responsible for a wide range of interior design related duties which include but are not limited to: Acoustical performance - appropriate ergonomics - adequate lighting and color coordination Interior - exterior and community way-finding (signage) Improvement of patient care environments Improvement of employee work environments - offices - labs - kitchens - shops - industrial - laundry - warehouse - garages - etc Accessibility dealing barrier free design based on the VA Barrier Free Design Standard Standardization of color schemes/themes and signage Participation in the initial space planning with facility planner(s) to ensure space is adequate for furnishings that are needed Selecting with input from customers and entering orders for furnishings in VISTA and specifying and creating documentation for projects submitted in FORCE for Contracting to issue solicitations and bids for projects for purchase Assessment of pre-occupancy conditions relative to facility planning and moves in conjunction with Facility Planner(s) Coordination and planning of moves as a member of the moves work group chaired by facility planning Confirmation/Research of all furnishings used will meet all the applicable life safety standards Serves as a member of the Ergonomics work group Historical preservation in conjunction with a consultant specialist in the field Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory - qualification - and performance requirements are met Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level Work Schedule: Full Time - Monday - Friday - 0730 - 1600 Telework: Not authorized Virtual: This is not a virtual position Position Description/PD#: Interior Designer/PD03368A
