Familiarity with cabinet making and construction is also beneficial. Responsibilities Include Meeting with clients to discuss their kitchen design goals Reading architectural drawings to create solutions and designs to meet client desires Giving careful consideration to the placement of water and electrical systems to ensure safety Creating a plan which details the layout and appearance of all installations and loose furniture Drafting detailed blueprints for the construction team to follow Anticipating and inform clients of additional features which may be of use to them Suggesting appropriate materials and finishes Required Skills An associate degree in interior design; bachelor’s degree preferred A portfolio of past work 3+ years of previous experience creating kitchen designs with 3D/2D rendering Experience as a design intern, design assistant, or interior designer Familiarity with the details and nuances of building a kitchen Positive, professional and a good team player The ability to read blueprints Top-notch communication and active listening skills Strong attention to detail The ability to determine priority with competing demands and deadlines Self- starter Comfortable dealing independently with the public and trade partners Ability to thrive in a high paced and collaborative environment Proficiency with AutoCAD or other relevant design software Ability to manage projects efficiently Knowledge of plumbing and electricity (preferred) Compensation Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience
