Interior Design Assistant

Job title: Interior Design Assistant Department: Design Reports to: Company owner Effective Date: Immediate Job Summary: The Interior Designer Assistant position is a role that supports the work of the company owner, the senior designer and the administrative manager. Supervisory Responsibilities None Duties/Responsibilities • Provide support for owner, senior designers, and administrative manager, respectively • Communicate with clients throughout the design process to answer questions or gather additional information about their preferences or needs • As requested by the senior designers, communicate with contractors, architects, and other subcontractors to ensure the projects are completed on time and within budget • Create digital mockups or sketches of designs or furnishings using computer design software • Provide weekly upkeep of fabric library • Review client purchase orders and provide status updates to appropriate designer/salesperson • Review and track back-orders in Sales Floor Books on a regular basis • Assist on sales floor when asked • Manage work schedule in accordance with company policy as per company handbook • Perform all other duties as requested by management • Adhere to the employment standards as outlined in the company's Employee Handbook Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with full attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Able to work independently in a busy office Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Indesign, and Sketchup Education and Experience: Minimum associate degree or bachelor’s degree with a major in Interior Design, or a Certificate from an accredited Interior Design program preferred One to two years of related experience required Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
