The following topics will be covered during the 6-week internship program • Visual and Verbal Communication Skills • Presentation/Speaking Development/First Impression Skills... • Introduction to Commerical Design Manufacturer Resources • Meet and Greet with Commerical Design Manufacturer Reps • Collaborating with A&D Community and Project Management Firms • Introduction to AWC Workplace Design Strategies and Resources • CET Designer and CAP Basics • Visualization and Renderings • Project Process • Budgeting Basics • Field Verifications • Specification Checks and Order Process • Project Meetings • Installation Packets • Punch Walk Through • Site Visits (Before/During/After Project Completion) • Specials/COM/COL Process • Digital Library Tools and Showroom Materials Library • AWC Construction Services / DIRTT Learning Objectives • History of commercial design & evolution of workplace design • The mission and values of Alfred Williams & Company • Basics of commercial furniture specification • Interior design best practices, space planning & creative solution development • Basic skills using CET Designer to develop space and renderings • Collaboration with A+D Support Objectives • Creative Solution Development • Product Specification • Acquiring of Samples/Finishes • Rough Budgeting • Test-fits/Space plans • Pre-proposal Meetings • Presentation Development • Renderings and Other Visuals Intern Candidate Requirements • Enrolled in an accredited interior design program • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D modeling software or equivalent • Shows initiative & self-motivation • Exhibits strong design and creative capabilities with a passion for providing solutions, applying the design process • Willing to work with various departments within Alfred Williams & Company's organizational structure • Demonstrates organizational skills as well as verbal and written communication skills • Ability and interest to work within a fast-paced team environment and exhibits strong interpersonal skills • Rising senior candidates must be willing to commit a minimum of 6 -7 weeks based on required credit hours over the summer (flexibility on the exact 6-7 weeks during May-August
