Interior Design & Selections Coordinator
Location: Alexandria, VA (Near Washington, D.C.)
We are seeking an experienced Residential Interior Designer to lead the interior design and selections process for upcoming luxury custom homes, each with a construction budget exceeding $2 million.
This is a hands-on, client-facing position for a designer who enjoys both the creative and technical aspects of residential design. The ideal candidate has a sophisticated design sensibility, a strong understanding of residential construction, and the ability to guide clients confidently through the many decisions involved in building a custom home.
Working closely with our Creative Director, Residential Designer, and Construction Team, this person will be responsible for developing cohesive interior concepts, presenting design recommendations, managing client selections, and ensuring design intent is carried through construction.
The role focuses on architectural interiors, finishes, fixtures, and materials rather than furniture or decorating.
Interior Design & Selections

Lead the selection of cabinetry, countertops, tile, stone, plumbing fixtures, decorative lighting, hardware, flooring, paint, and architectural finishes.
Collaborate on custom cabinetry, millwork, and interior architectural details.
Source products and materials that balance aesthetics, quality, availability, and cost.
Prepare thoughtful, well-organized design presentations and selection packages for client review.
Client Experience
Serve as the primary design contact for assigned projects, guiding clients through the selections process from initial concepts to final approvals.
Lead design meetings, present recommendations, and help clients navigate decisions with confidence.
Establish strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and a collaborative approach.
Manage design decisions and timelines to keep projects moving efficiently.
Design & Construction Coordination
Work closely with our Creative Director to maintain Windmill Hill's design standards and overall vision.

Review relevant plans, elevations, and specifications to ensure design intent is accurately communicated.

Work with our design coordinator to ensure selections are accurately documented, priced, approved, and communicated for purchasing and construction.
