Interior Designer No•vel¹ | Tiburon, CA Part-time Contract | Compensation based on experience | Potential for growth and full-time

No•vel¹ is a Tiburon-based residential interior design firm seeking an Interior Designer, expert draftsman. Your work will be primarily drafting services, but we want someone creative and qualified to add ideas into our designs. This is a fractional/contract position, with the potential to grow into a full-time role. We work on high-end residential projects and operate at a fast pace — this is a studio where no two days look the same and the work is personal, complex, and deeply satisfying when done right.

This role is best suited for someone who is local to Marin County or San Francisco, comfortable on job sites, and ready to hit the ground running. You'll work closely with our principal across all phases of design — from concept through construction documents and installation.

The right candidate brings both a strong design eye and the technical ability to execute — someone who can move fluidly between creative and construction document work without missing a beat.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, but are not limited to:

Design & Drafting

Develop conceptual designs, mock-ups, drawings, and renderingsDesign, specify, draft and integrate all elements of interior design and architecture including furniture plans, architectural details, millwork, built-ins, kitchens, bathrooms, and construction documentsCreate lighting and electrical plans, implementing new theory in lighting designExecute Construction Documents & RCPs following drafting standardsKnowledge of local codesDesign and specify custom furniture as requiredResearch, source, and specify all FF&E including fabrics, floor coverings, wall coverings, and furniturePerform site measures and site visits as neededProject Management

Serve as project lead or collaborate with Principal as appropriate to each projectReview complete project documentation to determine full scope of work, completion schedules, and any other relevant itemsMaintain clear, consistent communication with Principal, project team, and contractorsInterface with contractors as necessary to coordinate production and project schedulesCoordinate and supervise installationsMeet and communicate with clients as necessary to complete project componentsIdentify and document issues; consult with Principal on solutions and follow through to resolution

YOU'RE A FIT IF YOU:

Have a degree in Interior Design or are a professionally trained draftsman with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a residential interior design firmAre local to Marin County or the San Francisco Bay Area — site visits and in-person collaboration are a regular part of this rolePlease note travel time to and from the studio is not compensatedAre comfortable working across multiple software workflows: SketchUp, Layout, VectorworksHave a dedicated workspace and computer with access to the necessary design software — this is a remote contract role with regular in-person requirements for site visits, installations, and team meetingsHave strong verbal and written communication skills and a professional presence with clients and contractorsHold a current driver's license and have reliable transportationHave legal authorization to work in the United StatesAre able to lift and move up to 25–30 pounds as part of essential job dutiesBonus Skills & Experience:

Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, InDesign, Photoshop, Keynote, Canva, Numbers, Milanote
