Interior Designer

About the Role

Z Gallerie is seeking a talented, commercially minded Interior Designer to join our retail store team.

In this customer-facing role, you will help clients create distinctive, personalized spaces using Z Gallerie furniture, décor, lighting, and accessories. You will own the design relationship from the initial consultation through concept development, product selection, proposal presentation, follow-up, and purchase.

This position combines interior design expertise with relationship-based selling. The ideal candidate has strong aesthetic judgment, enjoys working directly with clients, and understands how thoughtful design recommendations can build trust and generate meaningful sales.

Key Responsibilities

Client Design and Sales

● Conduct in-store and virtual design consultations to understand each client’s space, style, functional needs, timeline, and budget.

● Develop customized room concepts, mood boards, space plans, product selections, and visual presentations featuring Z Gallerie products.

● Translate the Z Gallerie aesthetic into personalized solutions that reflect each client’s individual taste.

● Present design recommendations and guide clients confidently through product-selection and purchasing decisions.

● Build complete-room solutions by coordinating furniture, lighting, rugs, artwork, décor, and accessories.

● Prepare accurate proposals and maintain timely, consistent follow-up throughout the customer journey.

● Own an active pipeline of design clients and work toward established consultation, conversion, average-order-value, and sales goals.

● Develop long-term client relationships that generate repeat purchases, referrals, and additional design projects.

● Maintain accurate records of client activity, proposals, follow-up, purchases, and project status.

Store and Team Collaboration

● Partner with the Store Manager and sales team to identify design-service opportunities and convert store traffic into qualified design clients.

● Support sales associates with space-planning, product-coordination, and design questions when appropriate.

● Maintain strong knowledge of the Z Gallerie assortment, including product dimensions, materials, availability, pricing, and complementary products.

● Participate in store events, client appointments, and local outreach activities designed to build awareness of Z Gallerie’s design services.

● Share customer feedback and product insights with store leadership to improve the customer experience and design-service program.

Design Tools and Presentations

● Use Coohom to create floor plans, room concepts, and customer-facing visualizations.

● Prior Coohom experience is not required; Z Gallerie will provide training.

● Maintain organized client files, measurements, inspiration images, product selections, and presentation materials.

● Create polished, brand-appropriate presentations that help clients confidently visualize and purchase their completed space.

Visual Merchandising Support

● Occasionally support the Store Manager with floor updates, product placement, room settings, and seasonal merchandising.

● Help ensure that store presentations demonstrate complete-room solutions and inspire customers to shop across categories.

● Visual-merchandising support is a secondary responsibility and does not replace the position’s primary focus on client design and sales.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Visual Merchandising, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

● Two or more years of experience in interior design, furniture, home furnishings, luxury retail, or a related customer-facing field.

● Portfolio demonstrating strong interior-design judgment, space planning, product coordination, and complete-room composition.

● Strong ability to understand customer needs and translate them into attractive, practical, and budget-conscious design solutions.

● Comfortable presenting recommendations, discussing budgets, asking for the sale, and following up with clients.

● Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and project-management skills.

● Strong attention to detail, including measurements, product specifications, proposals, and client records.

● Familiarity with design or presentation software is helpful, but specific experience with Coohom is not required.

● Ability to work a retail schedule, including weekends, select evenings, and store events.

● Ability to visit local client homes for measurements or consultations when required.

● Ability to move throughout the showroom and work with furniture samples, materials, and product displays.
