The Designer is a key member of the Third Generation team, interacting with prospects / clients from the early phases of the sales cycle through completion of construction. The Designer is responsible for working with prospects / clients to understand their needs and to draw out their ideal vision for their homes, translating their ideas into a set of design drawings and material list. The design should ensure that the finished space has the look, feel, flow, and functionality clients are looking for. Responsibilities • Work with the Sales team to represent the company to prospects • Lead information gathering meetings with clients to understand how they plan to use their spaces and their design preferences • Convert client needs and ideas into design concepts and drawings, gaining final client approval for design • Select appropriate materials, finishes, fixtures, and accessories for client projects, creating a material procurement list for construction teams based on design • Coordinate with architects, vendors, subcontractors, and the construction team throughout project • Communicate with the construction team to ensure that the final space matches design • Stay current on design and other trends affecting prospects and clients Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture or equivalent experience • At least three years' experience doing residential design with direct customer contact • Knowledge of local building codes • Understanding of building science and construction practices • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills • Detail oriented • Excellent time management • Great interpersonal skills to work with a wide range of people, including prospects, clients, sales team members, construction team members • Experience with construction management software • Proficient in design software (Revit preferred) • Thorough knowledge of color theory and space planning
