Junior Designer Position

Confidential inland empire, California

Job Duties and Responsibilities include: • Assist Designer with design presentations, project management and decorative aspects of projects • Research and shop fabrics, furnishings, lighting, wall coverings, antiques, carpeting, and accessories and/or décor items as requested by designers • Utilize online resources for projects and interacting with vendors for quotes and order suggestions • Assist with preparation of presentation materials for client presentations • Create and maintain tracking grids for status reporting, project schedules and client project binders • Perform computer and/or manual drafting for various projects, including developing sketch details into CAD or manual drawings • Responsible for maintaining and management of office CAD standards • Serve as project lead under Principal Designer's direct supervision, pending size and scope of the project, including creating, updating and maintaining project budgets, FF&E specification books and project related drawing sets • Liaise with Principal, consultants, vendors and contractors • Coordinate the delivery of the projects under supervision of the Principal Designer • Develop conceptual sketches into design presentations • Assist in the selection of lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, textiles, flooring, paint and stain finishes, landscape elements and/or other related design needs as dictated by the projects for approval by Principal Designer • Prepare selections for all furnishings and décor items with the Principal Designer • Assist Principal Designer in coordination of all budgeting, ordering, expediting, and scheduling of the project team for projects • Maintain project binders, project logs and records, job schedules, and composing documentation and correspondence necessary for the projects • Attend project meetings and site visits with Principal Designer • Maintain client communication to ensure that goals are being met and any problems are effectively addressed in a manner that satisfies the needs of multiple parties. This includes maintaining all projects in Studio Webware. • Other duties as assigned Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: • Bachelor's Degree in interior design, architecture, or related field from an accredited University • Minimum of 3-5 years of previous experience in interior design firm or related industry • Working knowledge of design software programs including CAD, Sketch Up, Studio Webware • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Ability to exercise independent judgment related to all project phases including design selection, presentation, and project follow-up needs • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various personnel, vendors, contractors, consultants, etc., to achieve timely and positive outcome of projects • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team • Available to work flexible hours when needed to ensure specific project timelines are met
