Junior Interior Designer

We are looking for a Junior Interior Designer to work under the direction of the Lead Designer & Designer/Project Manager at our luxury residential design firm located in the South End of Boston. The ideal candidate is a creative and energetic team player, with 2 to 3 years post-graduate experience as Junior Designer in a residential interior design firm. The position entails: • Assist with multiple projects and deadlines of various sizes • Assist with detailed design concepts and provide programming and space planning analysis • Demonstrate understanding of the architectural design process and integration of interior design concepts • Perform field measurements and verification • Prepare design presentation packages using Microsoft PowerPoint • Develop space plans/schematic designs using Revit and SketchUp • Prepare floor plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, millwork design drawings, furniture layouts • Create construction docs and specs for ordering and communicating with contractors/workrooms/vendors • Demonstrate strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills • Possess technical proficiency in building construction, techniques and materials • Assist with project admin performed by Design Assistant: review Proposals, Purchase Orders and Invoices • Assist with the coordination and oversight of installations and deliveries • Proficiency with Revit, Sketch Up, and Microsoft Office required • Proficiency in Design Manager (project management software) preferred IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS • Strong design, visualization, and communication skills • Detail oriented • Problem-solving skills • Organization and time management skills • Team oriented and self-motivated To be considered for the position, candidates must have the following qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited school/program • 2-3 years of experience in post-graduate Interior Design • Professional work ethic and appearance • Proficiency in Revit and Sketchup required • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required • Proficiency in Accounting/Project Management software a plus COMPENSATION & BENEFITS In addition to a competitive industry salary, the firm offers a generous benefits package including health and dental insurance, holiday, vacation & sick/personal days, a parking stipend (a vehicle is required), and a 401k plan.
