Office Manager & Bookkeeper

We are an exciting creative start-up that is quickly growing and looking for a Bookkeeper to run our accounting and office management. We want a self-starter who is a natural at multi-tasking and thrives in the details. Local Language is an art, design and fabrication studio in Oakland, CA that specializes in sourcing, concepting, designing and fabricating custom artwork for commercial spaces. We create innovative sculptural artworks and other artistic products such as decorative architectural elements, mirrors, printed wallcoverings, and framed prints. Duties & Responsibilities: Full Charge Bookkeeping • Accounts Payable • Accounts Receivable • Payroll Journal Entry • Monthly Bank and Credit Card Reconciliation • Financial reporting to the business partners on a monthly basis and as projects close out • Filing Tax Payments HR • Approve timesheets for bi-weekly payroll • Assist HR manager with specific onboarding tasks for new employees Office Management • Provide excellent customer service via phone and for onsite visitors & customers • Perform general clerical, administrative, and secretarial duties • Train new hires on basic operations, systems & procedures • Coordinate studio sessions • Manage software accounts and subscriptions • Maintain office supplies inventory • Ensure digital and paper filing systems are organized and up-to- date • Assist with projects as needed • Ship and receive small parcel shipments • Maintain a clean and well-organized space • Basic cleaning tasks such as removing trash and recycling, watering plants • Manage and schedule regular office cleaning and maintenance by outside services • Basic Website Management • Run errands as needed Artist in Residence • Coordinate the artist in residency program and assist the residency manager Qualifications & Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in related field • Experience with customer service • Knowledge of accounting, data and administrative management practices and procedures • Experience with QuickBooks • Excellent computer skills: PC/Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, Google Drive • Experience with online project management software • Physically able to be on your feet and carry small boxes • Willingness to jump in and help where needed • Strong attention to detail • Able to work quickly and accurately in a fast environment • Interest in art and design is a plus • Experience in a manufacturing setting is helpful but not necessary • Driver’s License Key Competencies • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Keen judgment and problem solving • Ability to make clear decisions in a fast-paced environment • Planning and organizing • Efficient time management • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy • Research and information gathering/monitoring • Adaptability • Trustworthy with confidential information Additional Information & Benefits: • Hours of operation: Monday- Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm • Full-time • Compensation to be based on experience ($55k-60k) We will be screening emails and replying to qualified candidates that seem like a good fit!
