Residential Architectural Designer

Houseworks is seeking an experienced Residential Architectural Designer to join its San Francisco design-build team. This full-time, hybrid position requires candidates to reside in the San Francisco Bay Area and collaborate in person in San Francisco. Responsibilities: Develop residential remodeling designs from initial concepts through construction documentation and construction support. Prepare plans, elevations, specifications, selections, and construction documents. Coordinate with consultants, estimators, project managers, and construction professionals. Manage design schedules, milestones, and deliverables. Work directly with homeowners to understand priorities, present concepts, and guide decisions. Develop solutions that balance design quality, project budgets, and construction feasibility. Qualifications: At least four years of residential architectural design experience, preferably in remodeling. Strong understanding of residential construction methods and materials. Proficiency in architectural drafting and design visualization software. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with San Francisco building codes and permitting preferred. Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field preferred. Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience.
