Interior Designers work closely with the other EMS design professionals to detail the structure of a space that aligns with the needs of the building's occupants. Interior designers need to be precise and detail-oriented, as they measure spaces and calculate the materials needed for their projects. Interior designers have specialized education in building codes, environmental sustainability, technological design and other physical design considerations. They should be familiar with materials, furnishings, and other merchandise for creating beautiful interior spaces. Responsibilities Attend client meetings to discuss plans and updates Understand the needs of the people using the space Prepare sketches and mood boards for the client and team Create preliminary design plans through sketching Create final design plans with computer-aided design (CAD) software Help to identify and select materials and furnishings for projects, such as lighting, furniture, wall finishes, flooring, and fixtures Interpret and translate customer needs into rough plans Research and inform the Senior Interior Designer on materials and products sourcing Work closely with other designers and drafts people Research and follow industry changes, evolutions, and best practices Requirements: Minimum 5 years design experience in a remodeling or new construction environment Must be dependable and have excellent organizational skills.
