Supervision Received Direct reporting to and supervision from the Store Manager. Essential Functions • Maintaining a 90-day minimum monthly rolling average at the level specified in your individual compensation plan; • Selling Bassett Furniture home furnishing products in all categories: bedroom, dining room, upholstery, home office and entertainment furniture, occasional and accent furniture, bedding, window treatments, accessories, outdoor furniture and furniture protection plan products; • Developing and maintaining product knowledge and awareness of Bassett’s website presentation of products and services • Successfully completing Bassett’s Design Certification Program; • Using technology to conduct virtual interactions with customers; • Developing design solutions which address the clients’ needs and space, to include the following: • Room plan • Color plan • Furniture and accessory selections • Purchase plan • Executing ‘Makeover’ sales to meet these requirements: • Home visit followed by a complete design presentation (presentation must include room plan, furniture plan, color plan and accessories) • Sales order of $3,000 or more • Sale completed within 6 months of the presentation Design Consultant 08.20 • Using the Bassett selling process consistently, including: • Greeting customers promptly – in-store or virtually • Discovering needs including all 5 business factors – product/style, timing, decision makers, shopping experience and investment range; • Demonstrating product, emphasizing features and benefits; • Handling objections • Confirming / closing the sale • Follow Up after the sale • Accurately preparing and entering sales orders; • Adhering to standards for protecting customers’ personal information; • Using Bassett’s operating systems to enter orders, track customer purchases, etc. • Communicating order status to customers; • Contacting customers daily regarding store promotions, deliveries and other follow up; • Maintaining updated customer files with detailed information concerning all sales and contact activities; • Tracking and assisting with customer service issue resolution; • Completing all required training, attending shift meetings, and maintaining awareness of company communications through the extranet (Bnet); • Assisting with maintaining store appearance; • Assisting with store inventory; • Adhering to the floor rules; • Adhering to safety and cleaning protocols; • Performing other related duties and special projects as assigned. Required Experience / Abilities / Skills • Commissioned retail sales experience preferred; • Interior design experience preferred; • Demonstrated flair for design and/or fashion and space planning; • Desire to work in a commission-based sales environment; • Ability to learn and utilize Bassett’s operating systems and technology tools; • Commitment to Bassett’s “Vision and Values” at all times; • Valid Driver’s License with a maintained clear and safe driving record; • Ability to: • Discern and coordinate colors, patterns and textures • Frequently stand and walk for extended periods of time while working with customers; • Occasionally push or pull up to 25 pounds; • Occasionally bend or reach overhead; • Drive to customers’ homes; • Work nights, weekends and most Holidays; • Maintain an appropriate and professional appearance; • Walk, stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, use and/or control tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear, and see up close, in color, depth and distance vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
