Senior Designer & Project Manager

SENIOR DESIGNER & PROJECT MANAGER Shannon Scott Design is an ethical and sustainably focused interior design, build, and renovate studio based in Santa Barbara, California. You will generally work from our studio in Santa Barbara but may be required to travel from time to time. In this role you will: • Develop, produce, and manage all contract documents and deliverables including design concepts and presentations, 3D renderings, construction drawings, finish and material schedules, matrices, specifications, and finish boards • Research and source materials and furnishings, develop custom furniture and millwork designs • Manage quoting, budgets, proposals, specifications, purchase orders, and installation • Prepare accurate and profitable client budgets and proposals for approval • Provide construction administration including site visits and verifications, respond to RFI’s, review samples and shop drawings, coordinate with architect, contractor, fabricators, and vendors, and complete final punch list • Manage project communications and submittals, ensuring on time delivery of all contract documents • Attend client and project meetings and presentations • Develop and/or manage a clear and consistent work flow to achieve the project budget, deliverables, and schedule – actively monitor and assess progress with Principal and Director of Operations through all phases of the project • Manage project time and workload for team to meet task deadlines, milestones, and commitments • Maintain and monitor project profitability and schedule adherence • Oversee design work to ensure design objectives are met and studio brand and level of quality is maintained • Train, mentor, and supervise team members • Lead in the development of initiatives, standards, policies, and procedures, improving processes and updating documentation • Attend vendor presentations and inform team of new and innovative products, observe and communicate trends in the interior design industry, attend and represent SSD at industry events/trade shows • Pursue individual professional/skill development • Contribute to studio development goals QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in luxury residential and hospitality design, including managing large renovation and new construction projects • Professional Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field • Expertise in interior design project management, with outstanding organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects across various phases • Advanced knowledge of interiors and architectural building materials and finishes, building systems, specifications, current and applicable building, fire, and safety codes (including textiles, furnishings, and finishes), ADA compliance, design and detailing standards and construction techniques, and custom millwork design • Advanced knowledge of interior architecture and architectural design, including design concept development (residential and hospitality), space planning, design documentation, construction documentation, construction administration, and furniture (FF&E;) and materials selection, specifications, and procurement • Strong experience and ability to manage and produce a full set of construction drawings and specifications • Outstanding technical skills in AutoCAD and hand drawing (5 year minimum, 5+ years preferred) • Adobe Photoshop and Chief Architect 3D rendering experience preferred • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint • Working knowledge of Studio Designer and Asana is desired • Collaborative, self-motivated, positive, and flexible with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present • Strong delegation skills and ability to effectively communicate design ideas and direction • Excellent client service skills and well versed in interfacing with clients, consultants, and vendors • Extremely professional, reliable, punctual, and committed to a strong work ethic • A valid Driver’s License, insurance, and reliable vehicle • Authorized to work in the United States - we do NOT sponsor INQUIRIES Shannon Scott Design offers a pleasant working environment, in a beautiful studio, with a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative team.
