About The Role:
The Crowd is excited to be partnering with one of the most sought-after architecture and interior design studios in the industry, who are looking for an accomplished and highly personable Senior Interior Design Manager with extensive project management experience to join their growing New York team. The role will form part of a progressive, inclusive and collaborative senior leadership team and will be responsible for delivering large-scale, extremely high-specification luxury residential projects. In addition, you will manage a small team of designers, whilst coordinating internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, contractors and vendors.
The role will take ownership of large scale, complex, design-led projects, balancing design integrity, technical execution, project management and client expectations throughout. You’ll be comfortable taking responsibility and solving problems, while ensuring the quality and ambition of the design remains at the heart of every project. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, as you will act as a key point of contact for clients and external project teams, building strong relationships and ensuring projects are delivered seamlessly and to an exceptional standard.
You will be an accomplished project leader with strong experience managing both people and projects, but just as importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys working with people. You’ll be approachable, positive and engaging with a natural ability to bring people together and get the best out of a team. Key Responsibilities:
Lead high-end, large-scale residential projects from initial design through to completionTake overall responsibility for project delivery, including schedules, budgets, construction administration, design implementation through to deliveryManage and mentor small design teamCoordinate large external project teamsLead client meetings, site meetings, project calls, and presentations, acting as a senior representative of the studio throughout the project lifecycleMaintain strong and proactive communication with clients, managing expectations and ensuring key decisions and project requirements are clearly communicatedOversee construction administration and site coordination, ensuring design intent, quality, and detailing are maintained throughout deliveryReview and coordinate vendor and consultant drawings, backgrounds, specifications, and technical informationDevelop and review interior architecture, floor plans, construction documentation, joinery, and custom detailingSource architectural materials, finishes, furnishings, and FF&E in line with the design direction and project requirementsDevelop custom furniture and millwork details in collaboration with fabricators, vendors, and specialist tradesWork closely with the senior leadership team to manage project strategy, priorities, and key deliverablesProactively identify challenges and develop practical solutions to keep projects moving forward
Key Skills/Requirements:
10+ years of professional experience within high-end residential interior design, interior architecture, project managementProven experience leading and delivering large-scale, super-prime residential projectsConfident and positive leader with a genuine interest in mentoring and developing team membersDemonstrated experience leading and developing internal teamsStrong understanding of construction administration, construction means and methods, site coordination, and quality controlExcellent client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to manage expectations and build strong relationships with a range of stakeholdersExcellent technical drawing and documentation skills, including a strong understanding of vendor coordination drawings and backgroundsProficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Studio DesignerStrong knowledge of materials, finishes, FF&E, custom furniture, millwork, and bespoke detailingHighly organized, proactive, and solutions-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex project requirementsWillingness to travel as required by projects
