Senior Interior Design Project Manager

About the Role

Heather Hilliard Design is seeking an experienced Interior Design Project Manager to join our San Francisco–based studio. This intermediate-level role is ideal for a detail-oriented, strategic thinker with a strong design sensibility and proven project management experience in high-end residential interiors.

You will partner closely with the Studio Director to manage multiple residential projects from concept through final installation—both in-state and out-of-state—ensuring exceptional quality, accuracy, and client experience at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Studio Director and design team on programming, design development, decoration, and space planningProduce drawings including plans, elevations, and custom furniture designs using AutoCADManage project budgets, schedules, and overall workflowPrepare presentations, mood boards, and rendered elevations using Adobe InDesign and PhotoshopDevelop detailed FF&E specifications and documentation for architects and contractorsRequest and evaluate vendor quotes; propose furnishings and materialsCoordinate with custom workrooms, fabricators, and furnishings showroomsTrack and report project status; proactively follow up to resolve issuesOversee projects from concept through installation, ensuring design intent, quality, and accuracy

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Architecture & Design or Architecture10+ years of experience in a high-end residential interior design firm, in a project manager/designer roleAdvanced proficiency in AutoCADProficiency in Adobe InDesign and PhotoshopDeep knowledge of materials, fabrics, finishes, custom furnishings, millwork, and specificationsExtensive familiarity with San Francisco Bay Area design trade sources and showroomsKnowledge of sources in NYC, LA, and Europe is a plusAbility to work under deadlines in a busy, creative environmentValid driver’s license and access to a car (or car share) for site visits, showrooms, and vendor locations

Work Environment

Onsite, office-based role with in-person design presentationsRegular visits to showrooms, workrooms, warehouses, and project sitesOccasional travel for out-of-state projectsCandidates must live in the San Francisco Bay Area

Salary range: $140- $165k annually
