Senior Interior Designer - Commercial Projects

We are seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join a collaborative design team in Richmond, Virginia. The selected candidate will lead commercial interior projects from programming and space planning through construction administration. Projects may span corporate, healthcare, higher education, transportation, and government environments. Lead programming, space planning, and concept development for commercial interior projects.Perform and oversee field verification and documentation of existing conditions.Manage the development and production of construction documents.Direct finish, material, furniture, fixture, and equipment selections.Prepare specifications, presentations, and supporting design documentation.Create and oversee 3D renderings and visual presentations.Lead construction administration activities and coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and industry standards.Maintain and strengthen long-term client relationships.Support business development, proposal efforts, and repeat-business initiatives.Mentor and guide junior designers and other members of the project team.Manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and deliverables. Approximately 10–20 years of professional interior design experience.Significant experience leading commercial interior design projects.Residential-only interior design experience will not meet the requirements.Active NCIDQ certification.Demonstrated programming and space-planning experience.Strong 3D rendering and design-visualization capabilities.Proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office.Experience producing and managing commercial construction documents.Strong working knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, and commercial interior design standards.Experience selecting and specifying finishes, furniture, materials, fixtures, and equipment.Construction administration and field-verification experience.Ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and communicate effectively with clients.Ability to work from the Richmond office full-time for the first six months and transition afterward to the established hybrid schedule.Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship.
