Senior Interior Designer / Space Planner - Commercial (Kansas City) Kansas City , Missouri • Job : Architecture • Primary Location : Kansas City, MO • Schedule : Full-time • Travel : Yes, 15 % of the Time • Req ID : 220630 The Senior Interior Architect / Designer role is expected to be a leader in designing projects and working with architects, engineers and builders in developing projects and clients by leveraging our firms existing portfolio, talent, the connections of our Commercial Design Build Team, and by creating key relationships on their own. The Senior Interior Architect / Designer needs ambition, passion, and the confidence to lead a team, build a network of clients, and continue to raise the level of design excellence within our integrated design build team. DESIGN Roles and Expectations : • Lead project design teams including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development and construction drawings • Develop space planning concepts and generate program documents • Guide project vision and ensures detailing, finishes, furniture and materials all align with project vision • Work with consultants, furniture dealers, product reps and fabricators to meet overall project objectives • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination • Works with project team to ensure design intent is accurately interpreted in documents • Works collaboratively with Burns & McDonnell construction professionals establishing budgets, schedules and designs to maximize the value of our clients budgets • Collaboration with building and permitting officials during permitting and construction • phases of project, submits for permit as appropriate • Creates or implements project systems and an environment conducive to high quality design and professionalism • Ability to communicate design concepts and direction persuasively and concisely to both the project team and the client • Ensure projects conform to contract and design specifications • Contributes to and reinforces the team effort method of producing design projects • Mentors and guides skill development of intermediate and junior staff Founded in 1898, Burns & McDonnell is a 100% employee-owned company and proud to be on Fortunes 2020 list of 100 Best Companies to Work For.
