Senior Interior Project Designer

Job Description: Under supervision of a licensed architect or design director, analyze client needs and utilize independent thinking to develop approaches in all phases of interior design for healthcare, commercial, and corporate projects, including new buildings, renovation, expansion, and tenant improvement for building lobbies, healthcare spaces for patients and staff, offices spaces, experiential design exhibitions, retail, wellness centers, cafeterias, auditoriums, multi-function spaces, telepresence rooms, conference centers, and roof terraces space planning, ranging in size from 1,000 sq ft to 1 million sq ft, from predesign and strategic programming to all phases of projects; assist with all phases of science & technology, higher education, healthcare government, retail, and international and domestic large scale (100,000+ square feet) high-rise mixed use and corporate interior projects; manage the preparation of project proposals including preparing responses to proposals... preparing proposal presentation material and leading presentation of proposals to clients in partnership with the Design Director and other team members; work with clients on programming and quantitative studies including conducting interviews with end users, establishing space and ergonomic requirements, and developing stacking diagrams based on workplace metrics; develop, organize, coordinate, and execute the interior design of projects, utilizing creativity, foresight, and judgment to meet project requirements/objectives and work with project team to carry out appropriate design solutions; mentor and direct design teams and emerging designers; collaborate with consulting group on qualitative studies, including visioning with clients’ leadership group to identify project goals and expectations; develop spatial and furniture standards, concept plan and schematic design, finish and color palette, final floor plans, ceiling concepts, furniture layouts, graphic/signage/branding concepts, and art program support Design Director in presentations and communicate concepts to clients; work with design team to develop sequence and strategy of presentations, prepare 3D conceptual renderings & sketches (utilizing hand sketches, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Revit, models/renderings), and curate concept images and photos to communicate ideas; research finishes, furniture, fixtures, and materials for suitability and sustainability, considering LEED or BREEAM and WELL requirements where applicable or requested by client as a part of project goals and preparing LEED documentation; coordinate with furniture representatives and dealers for furniture selection, package completion, estimate, and installation; develop specifications & furniture bid packages, review proposals and bids; organize furniture tour and mock ups when necessary; conduct furniture coordination meetings, and architectural detailing and treatment of interior spaces; collaborate with signage/branding/wayfinding groups (internal or external) on design & implementation of environmental graphics and signage; consult and assist client with accessories and art in select projects; coordinate with project architects and lighting and MEP consultants to streamline design implementation; prepare finish specifications and schedules, coordinate with spec writer and technical director on project manuals and installation methods; develop and execute appropriate construction documentation in Revit (including demolition plans, furniture plans, elevations, furniture and finishes specifications, partition plans, reflected ceiling plans, power and communication plans, life safety plans, and construction documentation); research and incorporate International Building Code (IBC), local RIBA building codes, ASHRAE, ANSI, and ADA regulations into design to ensure compliance; review final construction documents for design intent and coordination; review construction bids or cost estimates for completion of scope, assisting in value engineering where required to meet project budget; coordinate with project architects on finish submittals, RFI’s, and punch list; review shop drawings on millwork and custom designs where applicable; attend construction progress meetings and site visits as needed; coordinate and work with photographers to document completed projects.
