Sr. Interior Designer - Client Opportunity

Responsibilities • Meet with clients to determine remodeling and design needs and scope of work • Conduct detailed as-built measure of existing floorplans and layouts • Create design plans based on building codes and design standards in order to meet the client’s needs using CAD • Prepare design plans to present to client • Meet with clients to present design plans and get final design approval • Provide detail for construction document creation • Meet with clients to make material selections for remodeling projects • Order materials, as needed: including cabinet hardware, barn doors, or other specialty items • Conduct cost analysis of selections (original allowances vs. final selections) and provide info to client or Project Manager for change orders • Check on job sites during construction • Work with other subs and vendors as well as internal team Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in design or related field or relevant work experience • Proficiency in CAD software and building codes • Chief Architect preferred • Adobe Photoshop a plus • An eye for design and color, but position is not interior decorator focused • Basic math skills required with proficiency in measuring, percentages, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division • Architectural / construction interior design experience required • Thrives under pressure – deadlines/some stress • A more seasoned professional - Experience with construction/building codes/ability to think through how things work (Ex: moving walls and how that impacts other aspects of the structure/expense of the job) • Being able to gauge expense and design to client’s budget; appropriately guide/tactfully rein them in when their appetites exceed their wallet • Be clear and direct with next steps/providing info to set client expectations • Computer/technology skills and capability to learn new skills/software as technology improves (texting, emailing, using Google calendar to schedule meetings, Excel, Word, Dropbox) • Good follow through/memory/note taking • Ability to self-start and make own to-do lists, stay on track and on top of a lot of details with different needs of each different project. • Some conflict resolution skills/ability to deal with all different personality types from clients to subcontractors • Respectful/aware of other people’s time • Understand that we are ‘selling’ at every step of a job – with good communication, follow through, under promise and over deliver, accuracy, kindness, tactfulness, etc. without overselling • This is NOT a decorator position.
